Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about CapexGPT and our Capex Reports.
CapexGPT is an independent analysis service that helps dental practices make data-driven equipment decisions. We analyze your equipment data and deliver a clear recommendation: Repair or Replace—backed by financial modeling, lifecycle data, and our proprietary CapexScore™.
We don't sell equipment, we don't repair equipment, and we don't take commissions. Our only job is to give you the truth.
The CapexScore™ is a proprietary 1-10 rating that tells you exactly where your equipment stands:
- 1-5: Repair makes financial sense. The unit has life left.
- 6-10: Replace is the smarter move. You're past the breakeven point.
It's a single number that cuts through the noise and gives you a clear answer.
The CapexScore is calculated from five key factors:
- Equipment age vs. expected category lifespan
- Service history and repair frequency
- Utilization rate and revenue dependency
- Parts availability and manufacturer support status
- Repair cost as a percentage of replacement cost
Each factor is weighted based on its impact on the repair vs. replace decision, and the result is a single actionable score.
We analyze all major categories of dental practice equipment, including:
- Imaging systems (CBCT, panoramic, intraoral sensors, X-ray units)
- Dental chairs and delivery systems
- Compressors and vacuum systems
- Sterilization equipment (autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners)
- Operatory lights and cabinetry
If it's a capital asset in your practice, we can analyze it.
You don't have to wait for something to break.
In fact, the best time to run a Capex Report is before you're in crisis mode. Think of it as a "what if it breaks tomorrow" analysis—so you know the answer before the pressure starts.
This is proactive capital planning, not reactive scrambling.
Every Capex Report includes:
- CapexScore™ Rating (1-10) — Where your equipment stands
- Repair vs. Replace Recommendation — A clear, binary answer
- Financial Analysis — Repair and replacement cost estimates, plus Section 179 tax benefit calculations
- Operational Analysis — Risk rating and revenue-at-risk per day of downtime
- Lifecycle Analysis — Age benchmarking and parts availability outlook
Delivered as a professional, executive-ready PDF.
24 hours or less.
Once you submit your equipment data, we deliver your completed Capex Report to your inbox within one business day.
Reports are delivered as professional PDF documents—designed to be shared with partners, lenders, office managers, or DSO leadership without any additional formatting.
The Capex Report is a decision-support tool—not a mandate. You always retain full authority over your equipment decisions.
Our job is to give you the data and the analysis. Your job is to weigh that against your specific circumstances, budget, and priorities. If you have additional context that changes the equation, that's your call to make.
